Risk Assessment

Risk Assessment

Risk assessments are used to provide people with information, securing that an area is safe and suitable.

Why do you think it is important to do a Risk assessment for outdoor performances?

Risk assessments allow people to know that there surroundings are safe for them and that no damage may be inflicted towards them. Risk assessments provide the safest possible outcome for each person that is participating in the performance that is taking place. I feel that a risk assessment is a good use of time as it gives each person the security they need and provides them with the safety they need in the place of performance. I agree that it is important for a risk assessment to take place for any outdoor performance as the environment can be easily changed due to unexpected circumstances.

What impact has it made to the project, changing the performance day because of the risk assessment?

I think that as the risk assessment delayed our performance date, it allowed us to prepare ourselves for the performance and to organize the costumes and performance details. Although the risk assessment meant that we would be a week behind schedule I felt that this become a benefit and gave us a clearer understanding on the performance. During the date on which our performance was meant to be held, we all participated in a dress rehearsal and therefore organized the way we would be performing.

Dress Rehearsals

During the dress rehearsal we sorted out each persons specific outfit and gave everybody a chance to try there outfit on. We also organized the positions of performance and placed each member of the group in the position of there musical instrument. Everybody is based in a specific order to give the musical instruments the best possible sound and allows the audience to enjoy the music to the best quality possible.

How did it go?

I felt that this dress rehearsal was a success and was a good way to plan for the performance in market square. It also gave most people in the group a good understanding of how the should be performing and the way they look during the performance on market square.

How did you feel in the outfits?

I felt that the outfits have been successfully made and are well presented to its target audience. They consist of a wide range of colours which i feel makes the outfits more appealing, the colours used also symbolize the culture of the music.

What would you add or change if you had more time?

If i was to re-create my outfit I would has ordered a number of different size's according each member of the group size. I would have also created a design idea to make the outfit suited to the campaign and used more products in the outfits.

Mask Production

Throughout the lesson on 2nd febuary 2010 our group created a mask design which will be used during the performance on market square. We as a group decided on a specific design which would then be printed onto the plain masks. Our design was painted onto the mask using a number of different colours which also represtented the colours of the Brazilian music Samba. Two different mask's were chosen by i group, one represented for the girls and one for the boys. Both mask have been created using a different design which therefore makes the visulisation of the mask's better for our target audience.

Samba Rehearsals

21st January 2010

During this Samba rehearsals we practiced different musical tunes as a group. We also decided on a rythme to perform. I feel that people should change instruments during the rehearsals to see what instrument may find the most enjoyable and are best at.

28th January 2010

During this rehearsal we all chose our specific instrument and practiced our performance. We also planned out the way we will be standing while performing in market square.
